Summertime BBQ Done Right! Did You Know?

Did you know you can have a heath backyard BBQ? Try these next few ideas and see!

1. Burgers are always a favorite but how can we eat a steak or burger without blowing all of calories?
There are 29 cuts of beef that meet the government guidelines for lean. For burgers you can get 95% lean ground beef and add egg whites and soft bread crumbs. You can also top them with nutritious toppings like grilled pineapple or sliced avocado or pile them high with raw veggies.

2. What are some ways to get vegetables on the grill?
You can be quite unique with your veggies and try romaine lettuce and of course the old standby corn on the cob. For flavor, just spritz with olive oil spray for very few calories and fat!
3. Everyone wants chips and dip, how can we make that healthier?
Choose chips that are lower in fat and full of flavor. Make dips with greek yogurt or light cream cheese as a base instead of mayo.
4. Bananas on the grill are something most people don't think about but it is a great idea. How do you grill bananas?
90% of people eat bananas in the morning, but they are outstanding on the grill later in the day! You can simply put the whole banana in the peel on the grill after you take the meat off and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. It caramelizes and brings out the natural sugar in the banana. Add a few chocolate chips and marshmallows if you want to jazz it up and you have a healthy dessert that kids love to eat right out of the "boat" (banana peel).

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Thanks for looking! God Bless, Simone :)
