- You want shiny hair, make sure you have lots of protein in omega-3 (salmon, almonds, avocados, flaxseed) in your diet. Also eat foods rich in omega-3 acids like salmon, almonds, avocados, and flaxseed. This is a slow process so be patient ( 5 or 6 months) before it starts to show an effect on your hair, but it will be a recognize when it occurs.
- Choose a conditioner for your hair type, such as normal, dry, color treated, or fine hair. Leave Conditioner on your hair for three to five minutes, and then rinse it out with cool water. Cool water is better for your hair than warm water because it helps to close off the hair follicles. Hot water has a tendency to wash away your hair's natural oils. Rinsing with cool water will also cause some of the conditioner to remain in your hair causing it to continue to work on your hair throughout the day.
- Use the right type of water. Hard water can be pretty rough on your hair. Soft water is much better for shiny hair. If you are unsure of the type of water coming into your home, call your local water authority. If you have hard water, you can install a water softening system in your home.To remove tangles from your hair, use a wide-toothed comb or a boar bristle brush ( all natural and helps to spread the natural oils throughout your hair, making your hair shiny. Plastic or hard bristles cause split ends and dry frizzy hair.
- Use a strawberry mask on your hair. Puree eight strawberries to a pulp. Add 1 tbsp. of mayonnaise. Mix together. Massage the mixture into washed hair that is still damp. Cover your hair with a shower cap and a warm towel. Let it sit for a few minutes. Take the towel and shower cap off. Wash and condition your hair again. The mask will make your hair shine.
- Use natural ingredients for shinier hair. If you are a blond, you can increase the shine in your hair by adding a few tablespoons of lemon juice to your rinse water. If you have red or brown hair, add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water. For any hair type, mix together 1 tsp. of honey into four cups of warm water. After shampooing your hair, pour the mixture through your hair.
