Those Winter Blues! Did You Know?

Did you know that the snow is piling up outside in many parts of the country?` The days are short, grey and dreary, with sunlight a long lost friend we see too little of. This is the time of year when spring seems far away, and winter seems forever. It's time to tuck in under a comfy blanket and turn on the full spectrum light by our favorite chair. Brew up a warming, uplifting cup of herbal tea and sip it while you plan your spring garden.

Calm and lift your spirits

Basil is noted for its culinary prowess, but this summer favorite also lifts depression. Basil grows easily in a window planter, the fresh green leaves add a welcome hint of summer to winter dishes. Add a few drops of basil essential oil to an aromatherapy lamp to brighten the room.
St. John's Wort may be the best known herbal answer for depression. Thanks to phytochemicals such as hyperforin and hypericin St. John's wort helps people out of the winter doldrums, a syndrome called seasonal affective disorder (SAD). St. John's can be used in several ways, in capsules, tea, or tincture.

God Bless!
